Desk – Sold!

Uncategorized

I am thrilled to announce the rustic eggshell desk sold! Check out this post from my archives to see how it was made. The desk (and chair) were listed on Big Cartel. Wasn’t getting too much traffic there, so I needed a quick sell and placed them on Craig’s List. Boom! Less than 24 hours and the sale was made.

We needed it out of the way for my sister’s Engagement Party this weekend. You can see all the party “supplies” around the desk. I thought it would work well as a buffet in the family room, but once I placed it there, I didn’t like it. What do you think?

It was originally Jason’s desk. He works from home 3 days out of the week. However, we ended up upgrading him a bit on Sunday.

You can also see that this desk boasts the pulls I made featured in yesterday’s post, Knobs.

All the items at the shop are officially sold out! I’ve got to get to work making some more inventory. Anything you’d like to see featured?

Knobs

I have a slight obsession with upgrading my knobs. I think it’s the easiest way to add a little personality to your home and your pieces for a low (ish) cost. I say lowish, because I happen to be enamored with Anthropologie’s hardware collection. Here’s a few examples of upgrades:

I made these handles for a desk I refinished. In this particular case, I could not find the right length handle in the style I wanted. I ended up buying plain black handles and wrapping them with twine to create my own.

These knobs I used to update my laundry closet. I needed something with some spunk to motivate me to actually enter the room. The anthro knobs pictured here were found on sale. Quick trick: Anthropologie puts their items on sale on Tuesdays. I like to save items in my cart and check back to see if they went on sale!

When we purchased our house in Atlanta, the master bathroom had these plain jane silver knobs. I added some class to the bathroom by purchasing mercury glass knobs from Anthropologie. Now if only I could rip out the countertops and replace with a beautiful Pottery Barn vanity. . .

These knobs I found on sale and held onto for a long time before deciding to update my boyfriend’s dresser with them. I love the colors. We ended up pulling the yellow and grey from the knobs and incorporated it into the duvet, throw pillows, rug and even side table lamps.

Lastly, here is one of my favorite projects. The night table originally had small brass knobs. I kept the brass pulls and hinges, polished them and updated the knobs with a little gold filigree.

Hope this inspires you to make some small and affordable changes in your own place!
